What is Virbela Go?

Virbela Go is a browser-based virtual campus designed to bring remote teams together in a 3D space. Unlike the standard Virbela application, it requires no downloads or installations—you simply click an invite link and step right into the virtual office.

What are the system requirements?

Because Virbela Go runs entirely in your web browser, the requirements are very lightweight:

• Browser: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge are highly recommended for the smoothest performance.
• Device: A laptop or desktop computer is best. (Mobile device support is currently limited).
• Hardware: Headphones and a microphone are recommended for clear, immersive spatial audio.
• Network: A stable internet connection. If you experience slowdowns on a company network, check with your IT department to ensure your VPN or corporate firewall isn't restricting browser-based WebRTC traffic.

Virbela Desktop vs. Virbela Go

How is Virbela Go different from the standard Virbela Desktop application?

Virbela Go and Virbela Desktop are completely separate products. While Virbela Desktop is a fully featured, downloadable application, Virbela Go is a lightweight, browser-based alternative.

Because they operate independently, they feature entirely different content and spaces. A campus, office, or custom environment created in Virbela Desktop cannot be accessed through or transferred to Virbela Go, and vice versa. You must log into each platform separately to access their specific environments.

Getting Into the World

How do I enter my virtual workspace?

Joining your team's space for the first time only takes a few minutes:

1. Open your invite link: Click the invitation link provided by your admin. This takes you straight to your dedicated Virbela Go space (it is helpful to bookmark this link for later).
2. Sign in or create an account: Enter your name, email, and password to register or log into your existing Virbela account.
3. Customize your avatar: Set up your virtual appearance. Don't worry about making it perfect—you can always change your avatar's look later.
4. Test your audio: Check your microphone and speaker settings to ensure your voice comes through clearly as soon as you enter.
5. Enter your HQ: Step into the 3D space, explore the campus, meet teammates, and start collaborating.

Navigation and Controls

How do I move my avatar?

Use the Arrow keys or the W, A, S, D keys on your keyboard to walk around. Alternatively, you can point and click directly on the ground where you want your avatar to move.

How do I navigate to different rooms?

Click the GO TO menu in the top right corner of your screen.

• To change rooms completely, select a new destination under the Other Rooms section.
• To teleport to specific seating areas or stages within your current room, select a location under the In Current Room section.

Communication and Collaboration

How does voice chat work?

Conversations in Virbela Go use spatial audio, meaning people sound closer or further away depending on where their avatars are standing in the virtual room.

• Toggle Mic: Click the Microphone button in the bottom left corner. Note: You must click "Allow" when your browser asks for permission to use your microphone.
• Push-to-Talk: If you prefer a walkie-talkie style interaction, hold down the ` / ~ (tilde) key to temporarily open your microphone only while the key is pressed.

Can I share my screen and webcam?

Yes. In spaces that allow sharing (like meeting rooms and boardrooms), controls will appear in the bottom left of your screen.

• Webcams: Click the camera button to share your video. Up to 16 webcams can be displayed in the room at a time.
• Screenshare: You can share your screen to present to the room. When a screenshare is active, it takes priority over webcams on the main boards, but viewers can use the "Web Cams" drop-down menu to switch views.

How do I customize the image and text boards in a room?

You can personalize offices and meeting rooms with custom branding, documents, or presentations.

• Text Boards: Click on a board, type in your new text, and click Apply.
• Image Boards: Click the board to open the editor. You can upload a file, drag-and-drop an image, paste from your clipboard, or link to a web image (URLs must end in `.jpg` or `.png` and have an open CORS policy). You can also attach a clickable link so that anyone who clicks the image board is directed to a specific webpage.

What should I do if I run into technical issues?

If something feels off or your audio isn't connecting, try these quick troubleshooting steps:

1. Refresh your browser tab.
2. Ensure you are using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
3. Double-check your browser's privacy settings to ensure the microphone is allowed.
