New Features
We are excited to introduce these new features designed to enhance your productivity and interaction:
Webcam Background Options
There are now three webcam background options. From left to right, they are:
- No processing
- No changes are made to the video
- Blur Background
- The background is blurred. The subject should not be blurred
- Background Image
- The background is dropped out and replaced with a Virbela themed background image
- At this time a user’s desired setting is not remembered once they leave the world.
- When a video stream is started, there is a brief time where the raw background is shown before the background processing is applied.
Bug Fixes:
- If you shared your camera or screen quickly after entering a space, it would be delayed to render by a second or two.
- Going up the stairs in the campus scene made the camera jump when you passed the ceiling of the first floor.
- An Application Error would display on logout
- Occasionally, the cursor would get stuck on a clickable object, like a chair, during a scene transition and then the next click would seat you regardless of where the mouse was hovering.

New Features
We are excited to introduce these new features designed to enhance your productivity and interaction:
Userlist sorting
Click the filter button in the top right corner of the userlist
- There are 3 options
- Sort by Name
- Userlist is sorted alphabetically by username (This is the default)
- Sort by Talking
- Userlist is sorted by the last time a user started speaking with active speakers at the top
- Sort by Raised Hand
- All users with their hand raised are brought to the top of the list and ordered by when they raised their hand. The user with their hand raised the longest is at the top.
- Sort by Name
- The local user stays at the top in all sorting scenarios and now has a subtle line divider under their name.
Campus Fun Stuff!
Time of day
- Turn to night time:
/time-of-day -h 24
- Turn back to day time:
/time-of-day -h 9.5
- These settings will be persistent, so a change in the time of day will last until someone changes it again.
- Only available in the Campus scene at the moment.
Fireworks
- Turn fireworks on:
/fireworks -e
- Turn fireworks off:

- These settings will be persistent, so a change in the time of day will last until someone changes it again.

Tunnel to Virbela Maze
- On the left side of the island, past the campfire there is a tunnel to the Virbela maze for exploring
Enhancements:
Speech detection revamped
- Detection of speech could be delayed and inconsistent with quieter speech before.
- It should be much more responsive now
Nameplates
- Show Nameplates for smaller number of users
- If there are 6 users or less in a room, all nameplates will be visible
- Once the 7th user joins the room you need to hover over users to see their name plates.
Force latest Room Permissions
- Admins can change a room's permission in their appropriate admin dashboard, and then force it in their current room immediately with the “Update Permissions” option in the Admin Tools menu
- For example: A teacher can allow screensharing and then force remove it and the buttons will no longer be visible for students.
- Currently if there is an active share in this example, that share will not stop when permissions are revoked, but the user won’t be able to launch a new one.

Bug Fixes
- Some avatars would keep their original skin tone near the hairline when adjusting skin tone to a new color
- Team Suite outdoor chairs are now sittable
- The Performant Quality level was too aggressive with Avatar LODs, this has been relaxed so you won’t see as many cutouts close to you.
- Unrecoverable errors will now show an Error page instead of a black screen with a button to Refresh.
- There is also a “Error Details” drop down that can be shared with support teams

Click on another user’s name in the user list and select “Close Mic”

Bug Fixes
- Click-to-move can be performed by clicking through your avatar’s body. It is hard to click-to-move forward without this functionality. This was broken with the 8.29.2025 release

Quality Settings
- Balanced - Is the default and balances graphics fidelity and performance
- Performant - Lowers graphics quality in favor of performance/speed
- High Fidelity - The highest quality graphics, may affect frame rate on some computers
Bug Fixes
We've addressed several issues to ensure greater stability and reliability:
- A tooltip on the Mic Button was covering the top portion, blocking clicks. This has been moved back to where it was in the 8.21.2025 release
- Z-fighting on a web board on the top floor of the campus scene resolved
